In this fast paced digital world...

In this fast paced digital world, RC cars almost seem chronologically out of place. They're tangible, tons of fun to play with, and are relatively inexpensive. They keep you from sitting at home just watching TV all the time. You won't have to master any levels. There is no boring repetition. Your game is never-ending. RC cars might have fancy remote controls, but they are still fun for the whole family. People of all ages love them, and you can find something that fits your needs and budget.

No matter what size your radio car is - be it a few inches long or a 1/6 to 1/4 scale model that is several feet long - they all use the same technology. I really like that about them. Because of this, it is possible to enjoy RC toy cars even in areas with limited space. Cars that are 1/8 to 1/6-scale need a bit more space. You can play with them outside, or if your den is big enough and has hardwood floors, you can bring the fun inside.

You can find whatever you want in RC cars, if you look for it. You can find cars from cartoons, such as the Mach V from Speed Racer. You can get models of the stars of the Pixar movie "Cars". You can also find famous cars from TV series, like the "General Lee" 1969 Dodge Charger from "The Dukes of Hazzard". There are a number of tricked-out Cadillac Escalades, customized Hondas and Mitsubishis, dropped Mustangs and Camaros, and a variety of cool concept cars. Hummers, monster trucks, and Jeeps - In fact, all the vehicles that conquer rough terrain can be had by folks who love off-road vehicles. If you are into exotics, you can can actually own a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, as well.

Some of the ones I owned have been used a lot and have gone through rough treatment over the years. Yet they continue to hold up because they are high quality, as most RC cars are. I think it's great fun that you can get really stylized cars or you can get truly realistic ones. These look exactly like the real cars they're modeled from, just very, very small.

When you buy an RC car there are some things you will want to look for. Of course you want to buy something that won't break after the first couple of times you play with it. That shouldn't be a major concern as most are very well made. The most important thing to me is that my electric motor has the right amount of power. Can there be anything worse than having a beautiful red Ferrari which can barely move? You certainly don't want a ferocious looking monster truck that isn't even able to scale a minor bump in the terrain. At my house, our favorite RC cars are the ones that can go rumble-tumble over rough ground and steep slopes at top speed!

I personally love the electric RC car that pops wheelies when I let it take off, and it's only 1/10 scale. This little truck has fat rubber tires with great traction. It also has enough power to get itself out of the toughest situations. Besides that, it's got a 2 speed transmission. We enjoy that truck more than any video game. That's quite a statement in this electronic age!
